About Adam I started taking pictures as a child back in the very early sixties on a Kodak Box Brownie with its waist-level viewfinder, but progressed to a Brownie 127 with the sophistication of an eye-level viewfinder. I won that in a competition on a corn flakes packet! At the age of fifteen I inherited a delightful Baldessa from my father and from then we shared the hobby and interest in the great outdoors: I learned all about f/stops, depth of field and shutter speeds. I owe my continued interest in photography to those happy times with Dad; in turn my son has also “seen the light” and enjoys photography and the great outdoors too. In the 70s as a production chemist at Kodak's Harrow factory, I continued to develop (pardon the pun) my interest in the hobby. An active member of the then Kodak Works Photographic Society, I exhibited in Kodak Salons around the world, picking up a few medals on the way – and had some pictures published in the UK’s Amateur Photographer magazine. Over the years, I started concentrating on landscapes and nature, and through my day job as a development consultant I gained an additional interest in travel photography: I have had the good fortune of visiting some of the most fascinating countries. I have contributed to Outdoor Photography magazine, had photos published through a stock agency in travel magazines and as book covers and sold images to clients in the USA. I have also been delighted to contribute some images for educational and charity purposes. I remain an unrepentant film user, both 35mm and 120 film, and use a Nikon SLR and a Mamiya 645. No DSLR can match the large and bright waist-level viewfinders, which remind me of that old Box Brownie! I do hope you enjoy the pictures and invite you to revisit from time to time as I add and change the images. Finally a big thank you to Keith Whatling who helped me enormously with the design of this site |
